Speech & Language Therapist - Stony Dean School

Location: Amersham

Term time only

Start Date: September 2025

Salary Type: Bucks pay

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time 32.5 hrs p/wk - (Part-time/Flexible working hours also considered)

Interviews to be held: Week Commencing 23rd June 2025


About us

Stony Dean is an Outstanding Local Authority maintained school for students aged 11-19 years, with a wide range of learning and social communication difficulties. Most students have a diagnosis of speech, language, communication, or interaction disorders. All pupils attending Stony Dean School have an EHCP prior to starting the school.

At Stony Dean School, we place a high value on our integrated approach to therapy for supporting students with diverse communication needs. We have an experienced and flourishing multidisciplinary team that works closely with students, families, school staff, and external agencies to provide universal, targeted, and specialist therapeutic interventions throughout the school day.

As a Speech and Language Therapist within the school, you will work closely with the educational team to embed many specialist strategies throughout the school day to best support all pupils. Our pupils access a Universal level of provision, with further targeted and specialist interventions dependent on individual’s needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

• Conduct therapy at universal, targeted and specialist levels
• Focus on whole-school, universal approaches to maximise outcomes for all students
• Deliver sessions in small groups, focusing on a range of speech, language and communication skills.
• Report writing for EHCP processes including assessments and section amendments

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering targeted language and communication interventions, ideally in group settings. Confidence in working within the classroom to support language, communication and literacy- focusing on strategies such as key vocabulary teaching, visual supports (Schedules, symbols) and curriculum based language interventions is also key for this role.
