The Deputy Clinical Lead for Post‑Operative Recovery is a key leadership role within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate and effective perioperative care. Within NHS Wales, the Deputy Clinical Lead provides clinical expertise, visible leadership and professional guidance to the multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of post‑operative assessment, monitoring and intervention, ensuring patient safety remains central to all decisions.
Key responsibilities
* Provide clinical expertise and visible leadership to multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain consistently high standards of post‑operative assessment, monitoring and intervention, ensuring patient safety remains central to decisions.
* Lead by example, act as a credible role model, promote evidence‑based practice, and ensure an efficient, well‑organised recovery environment.
* Contribute to operational coordination, workforce planning and day‑to‑day management within the recovery unit.
* Support staff development, supervise students and new practitioners, fostering a positive learning culture.
* Ensure adherence to policies, LocSSIPs/NatSSIPs, infection‑prevention standards and documentation requirements.
* Contribute to audits, data collection, equipment evaluation and quality‑improvement initiatives.
* Communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team; manage sensitive information and challenging situations professionally.
* Deputise for the Clinical Lead, maintaining continuity of service, safe staffing and effective planning during routine and emergency activity.
