Pay £75,026 to £80,267 Job description As a Lead Business Architect, you will be critical to ensuring that the impact of the Department’s strategic ambitions are understood, impacted across the business and translatable into actionable initiatives to effect change. To achieve this, you will build strong, effective relationships and work in partnership with colleagues across the business to build consensus and achieve outcomes. You will take personal responsibility for undertaking strategic analysis and modelling of the Department’s business architecture across different areas of the Department, defining current and target states, developing roadmaps to steer senior decision makers in the delivery of change and making recommendations for the scoping of change initiatives. As a Lead Business Architect: You will be an essential, integral part of the leadership group within the Business Strategy team, contributing fully to the creation and maintenance of our knowledgebase, strategy development and alignment and delivery of change, underpinned by our architecture. You will take a leadership role in the delivery and development of our strategy and development of holistic, integrated view of the department, either a business area or whole to achieve Departmental goals and solutions. You will develop that holistic view of the department by leading, facilitating, and encouraging the sharing of information and leading on the creation of the team’s knowledgebase and business architecture collateral, including frameworks, business cases, and roadmaps. You will be a skilful influencer and clear communicator driven by the importance of applying architectural thinking to business change and of building clear and convincing views of how to deliver strategy both within the Directorate and wider Department. You will develop and measure the capabilities that are required by the Department across its services to realise the desired outcomes and be accountable for insights, information and products that provide a holistic view of the department. You will have Line Management responsibilities. You will be required to mentor and coach team members and share expert knowledge. Person specification You will: Lead Criteria Be a proven problem solver, ideally with experience of working in an architectural domain, with demonstrable technical skills in Business or Enterprise Architecture. You will have used Business or Enterprise Architecture techniques to positively influence strategic change. Be familiar with one or more of the current Business or Enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. BizBok, TOGAF, NATO). Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, identifying and building relationship at all levels and can negotiate and influence at a senior level, providing consultancy-level support through the practical application of a range of business architecture methods, analysing enterprise-wide business scenarios to produce valued insight. You will have built enterprise wide relationships, at a senior level, to achieve demonstrably positive business outcomes. Be able to demonstrate skill in applying a flexible, innovative and persuasive approach to problem-solving. Be able to create of a full range of business modelling collateral such as modelling business motivation; value propositions; value streams and capabilities; and business reference architecture views. Communicate with others in a clear, honest and enthusiastic way to build trust. Explain complex issues in a way that is easy to understand. Deliver difficult messages with clarity and sensitivity, being persuasive when required. Be able to demonstrate a track record in developing and delivering learning and development strategies, coaching and mentoring colleagues of all grades to support their development and the Department’s capabilities. You will have demonstrated experience in enhancing team or practice-wide capabilities through a strategic approach to learning and development.
