GSL Education is currently seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work at one of our client SEN schools in Nottingham.
Job Summary:
The SEN Teaching Assistant will work with students with special educational needs and mental health needs in SEN schools, playing a vital role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, and promoting the well-being and academic success of all students.
Role of a SEN Teaching Assistant:
1. SEN Teaching Assistants provide tailored support to students with special educational needs and mental health concerns, working closely with teachers and other professionals to implement strategies outlined in education, health, and care plans.
2. They offer emotional support to students with mental health needs, helping them manage emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.
3. In situations where students experience mental health crises or emotional distress, TAs may provide immediate support and assistance.
4. SEN Teaching Assistants engage in ongoing professional development to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs and mental health concerns.
The successful candidate will:
1. Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a Secondary SEN school setting.
2. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
3. Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
4. Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
