Are you ready to take the lead on shaping safe, sustainable and high-quality construction projects? Torus is looking for a Lead CDM Business Partner to join our team, acting as Principal Designer across a diverse range of projects – from small refurbishments to large-scale new build housing estates.
This is a key leadership role where you will oversee compliance with CDM regulations, drive best practice in health, safety and environmental standards, and ensure risks are effectively managed throughout the pre-construction and construction phases. You will also act as a trusted advisor, supporting colleagues and contractors while building a positive health and safety culture across the Group.
This is a hybrid role, with your main base at our Warrington office. You will also be required to attend our Liverpool and St Helens offices, as well as project sites, depending on business needs.
What you will be doing:
Lead on CDM responsibilities as Principal Designer, coordinating health and safety during pre-construction and beyond.
Advise on risk management, legislation and best practice across a range of projects.
Represent Torus with regulators including HSE, Environment Agency and Fire Authorities.
Maintain compliance with ISO standards (45001 & 14001) and drive continuous improvement.
Deliver training, guidance and communications to promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture.
Support investigations, audits and reviews to ensure lessons learned translate into improved practices.
What we’re looking for:
Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
NEBOSH Construction Certificate
Certified or incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS/IMaPS)
Experience in Construction and Housing
Experience delivering CDM Coordinator / Principal Designer services across multiple sectors.
Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly CDM 2015.
Excellent organisational, project management and communication skills.
A full, clean driving licence.
Interview Process:
The selection process will consist of two stages:
Stage 1: An initial interview via MS Teams, with slots available on 29th, 30th and 31st October. This will be an opportunity to discuss your experience, review your CV, and explore your interest in the role.
Stage 2: A competency-based interview, held in person on 6th November at our Warrington Office (Bank Park, Kendrick St, Warrington WA1 1UZ).
