Job Description:
Autism Support Teaching Assistant based in a Secondary School Provisions Unit
Location: High Barnet (close to Cockfosters Underground Station and High Barnet Underground Station). Parking available at school site.
Pay: £90 (going up to £100 per day)
Time: 8:15 to 3:30pm and 8:15am to 2:15pm on Fridays
We are currently working with an Autism Support Provisions Unit for a secondary school in Barnet supporting approximately 200 students.
About the school provision:
The Special Resource Provision is an additional resource within the mainstream school, offering up to 49 places for pupils with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC).
The Provision supports students with:
* A diagnosis of ASC as a primary need in their EHCP
* Access to the Social Thinking curriculum, designed for social learning challenges
* Benefits from learning alongside appropriate peer models
* Ability to have their behaviour managed within the medium risk setting of the unit
* An understanding of their ASC diagnosis and willingness to engage with learning/support
Students follow a differentiated curriculum focusing on social cognition, using the SCERTS framework and Social Thinking curriculum, with opportunities to take GCSEs and access further education.
Teaching Assistant Role:
We seek a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with autism. Responsibilities include:
* Establishing routines with students
* Managing transitions and changes
* Communicating clearly
* Supporting interests and behaviours
* Collaborating with parents/carers
* Building resilience
