The successful candidate will autonomously deliver advanced, high-quality, evidence-based investigations, reporting, and specialist scientific input. The role will focus on complex diagnostic investigations and pathway management for patients presenting with breathlessness, supporting multidisciplinary care, service development, and clinical education. A comprehensive understanding of both cardiological and respiratory investigations used in the assessment of breathlessness is essential.

You will be joining a progressive, patient-centred Respiratory Physiology Service within a large Trust, primarily based in York and working in close partnership with colleagues in Scarborough. This role offers a high level of professional autonomy, enabling you to provide accurate, timely, and clinically relevant diagnostic investigations that directly support patient diagnosis and treatment.

The post involves working across multiple sites, including York Hospital and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Askham Bar and Selby War Memorial Hospital. You will perform and report a range of advanced respiratory investigations in addition to the responsibilities of pathway management. The role also includes triaging referrals, requesting appropriate investigations, and contributing to diagnosis and management plans in collaboration with Respiratory Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient journey.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to audit, quality improvement, and ongoing service development.

We offer a supportive and forward-thinking department based in the vibrant and historic city of York, providing an excellent environment for professional development and clinical leadership.
