Personal Assistant to the Headteacher
Maternity Cover – Part-Time (3 Days per Week)

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Personal Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to our Headteacher during a period of maternity cover. This is a pivotal role within our school, offering the opportunity to work at the heart of school leadership and contribute to the smooth running of our thriving secondary school.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for the Headteacher, managing a complex and demanding diary, coordinating communications, and ensuring the efficient operation of the Head’s office. You will need to be highly organised, discreet, and able to work independently whilst maintaining strong relationships across the school community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive PA and administrative support to the Headteacher
2. Manage a complex diary, scheduling meetings, appointments, and events
3. Act as first point of contact for the Headteacher, screening calls and correspondence
4. Prepare agendas, papers, and minutes for leadership and governor meetings
5. Coordinate arrangements for school events, visits, and parental meetings
6. Handle confidential information with absolute discretion and professionalism
7. Liaise with staff, governors, parents, local authority, and external partners
8. Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence
9. Maintain filing systems and ensure regulatory compliance with school policies
10. Undertake general office duties to support the leadership team as required
About You
We are looking for someone who:
11. Has proven experience as a PA, ideally in an educational or public sector environment
12. Possesses excellent organisational and time-management skills
13. Can prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure
14. Has outstanding written and verbal communication skills
15. Is proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
16. Can work independently and use initiative whilst being a team player
17. Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and absolute confidentiality
18. Is committed to supporting the ethos and values of our school
Qualifications
19. GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
20. Business administration qualification or equivalent experience desirable
