Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to assist in the installation of lightning protection and earthing systems on various structures across private, public, industrial, and commercial sectors.
Key Accountabilities:
* Assist in installing lightning protection and earthing systems on tall structures such as high-rise offices and flats, following pre-designed schemes including drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
* Support upgrades to existing lightning protection systems as per provided specifications.
* Work safely using scaffolding, work platforms, and other safety devices.
* Accurately complete company paperwork such as risk assessments, job sheets, material schedules, and timesheets, and return them to the office team.
* Provide on-site communication and advice to clients or project managers, maintaining professional representation of the company.
Job Context / Key Challenges:
Lightning protection is a specialized, regulated service (BS EN 62305:2006), requiring annual testing. The work is mainly outdoors at heights, involving access to rooftops and difficult-to-reach areas, often requiring lifting equipment.
The sites range from high-rise residential buildings to large retail and industrial structures. Driving is essential due to the wide geographic area of clients.
Successful completion of Lightning Protection Installations Adult Learner training will lead to an NVQ qualification covering materials, standards, safety procedures, working at heights, and equipment use.
Role Dimensions:
* Individual contributor reporting to an Operations or Contracts Leader.
* Customer-facing role representing the company.
* National role with periodic travel based on customer needs.
Person Profile:
* Experience in Ground Works, Roofing, or Electrical sectors.
* Comfortable working at heights in physically demanding conditions.
* Valid Full UK Driving License.
Organisation Structure:
The individual reports directly to an Operations Director or Contracts Manager.
