Senior Respiratory Physiologist

We require a Band 7 Respiratory Physiologist for a fixed period of 12 months to cover maternity leave.
You will provide comprehensive evaluation of a range of respiratory, sleep and ventilation disorders, including complex sleep investigations and implementation of therapeutic treatment, and assist with mentoring and training of Junior Respiratory Physiology staff and Degree Apprentices.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the delivery of high‑quality Respiratory and Sleep diagnostic services in accordance with trust, regional, government and professional body guidelines.
Contribute to provision of a Physiologist‑led Sleep Service, taking patients from referral through to treatment and long‑term review.
Work closely with the ISU Senior Management Team, Consultant Respiratory Physicians and Physiology Service Manager, to ensure respiratory diagnostics are delivered in a cost‑efficient manner.
Maintain adequate capacity across Respiratory and Sleep Services.
Oversee maintenance and calibration of all Respiratory Physiology equipment and devices.
Assist with training and development of Junior Physiologists and Apprentice Physiologists.
About us
The Respiratory Physiology team is based within the Heart and Lung Unit, at Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust.
The current physiology workforce comprises of: 3 full‑time Respiratory Physiologists, a part‑time Band 3 Sleep Assistant and a Level 6 Degree Apprentice.
The Respiratory Physiology Service currently undertakes approximately 3,000 diagnostic tests per annum.
Since the Sleep Service became physiologist‑led in 2016, approximately 1,700 new patients have been seen in clinic and we have over 2,200 patients with home CPAP in the community.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc Physiological Measurement or equivalent
* RCCP/AHCS registration
* 2 years experience at Band 6
* Experience of physiologist‑led sleep clinic
* Experience of service development
* Experience of training and mentoring students
