We’re focused on communicating in the clearest way possible, with a consistent tone of voice, so our customers feel empowered, not confused.</p><h3>The role</h3><p>As a Senior Content Editor in our Content team’s practices stream, you will be responsible for delivering helpful, timely, relevant and well‑written content for accountants and bookkeepers to support FreeAgent’s strategic objectives. This content can include blog posts, in‑depth guides, email journeys and newsletters, landing pages, interactive demos, printed assets and website copy.</p><h3>Writing and editing</h3><ul><li>Use writing and editing skills to create a variety of content for FreeAgent’s accountant and bookkeeper audience</li><li>Have excellent knowledge of different content types and get to know and adapt to our different audiences and objectives</li><li>Edit with precision, removing ambiguity and creating clarity at every opportunity, while following house style guidelines and using FreeAgent’s tone of voice</li><li>Learn FreeAgent’s features and functionality in order to explain them accurately in our content</li><li>Understand content strategy, follow it in execution of content work and contribute to optimising and improving our approach</li><li>Help senior content team with copy editing/proofreading work when required</li><li>Provide administrative support to senior team for content projects</li><li>Contribute to idea‑generating sessions for content projects</li><li>Understand how we measure the success of our content and use tools to access and report on this data and draw conclusions</li></ul><h3>Content strategy and analysis</h3><ul><li>Contribute to the development of new content strategies and evolution of existing strategies through data‑driven insights and knowledge and experience of best practice</li><li>Demonstrate a solid understanding of the metrics we aim to influence with our content strategy, report on them confidently and suggest ways to achieve greater impact and contribute to wider company strategy</li><li>Work with the head of content and senior content team to plan and execute content strategy across different content channels for practices</li></ul><h3>Collaboration</h3><ul><li>Create content and project plans for comms projects against detailed briefs produced by colleagues in the practice marketing team for a wide range of purposes</li><li>Understand how factors such as audience and objectives for a piece of content should influence the direction of messaging and copy choices</li><li>Know which questions to ask to gain all info required in order to complete a piece of content work to the highest standard possible and clearly communicate our requirements to stakeholders to get the job done</li></ul><h3>You</h3><p>To be successful in this role, you’ll be a natural storyteller who can adapt your style according to the demands of a brief. You’ll be comfortable working quickly and independently, and you’ll respond positively to editorial feedback and be comfortable giving constructive feedback to colleagues. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team of writers, editors and content specialists who’ll help you develop your skills and produce work you can be proud of.</p><h3>Ideal experience</h3><ul><li>Writing for the web and/or other digital platforms</li><li>Working with content management systems</li><li>Creating or editing content for marketing a product and/or providing instructions on how to use a product</li><li>Creating or editing content within the technology or SaaS arenas</li><li>Generating original content ideas and finding the right subject matter to serve your audience</li><li>Working with Google Analytics and other content performance measurement tools</li><li>Working with briefs and collaborators in other teams to create a wide range of content types</li></ul><h3>Our work life</h3><p>We believe in a strong work‑life balance, we don’t work long hours (35‑hour working week), and we have a fabulous Edinburgh HQ designed for collaboration, including high‑quality A/V equipment to provide a great experience for distributed teams.</p><h3>Work pattern for this role</h3><p>This is a temporary role on a fixed‑term contract until the end of 2026. Working hours are full time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
