Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to lead on Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle version 3 (SBLCBv3). We are looking for a midwife who has experience of implementing and managing a programme with key deliverables. The midwife must have excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and be able to prioritise work to timescales. We are working towards continuous development of our services to meet the maternity transformation agenda and this role is key. The midwife must have a philosophy of woman-centred care and good knowledge of the SBLCBv3 in line with Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS)

Main duties of the job

To lead, facilitate and build on the current practice to enable the delivery of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle version 3

The post holder will work with midwifery, obstetric, and neonatal colleagues to lead on the continued implementation and monitoring of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3 at Whipps Cross Hospital. The postholder is expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to manage their own workload.

The successful candidate will support and work alongside the leads for the individual elements to achieve compliance with MIS (Maternity Incentive Scheme) standard 6. They will have overall responsibility for leading, facilitating and building on all the 6 elements of SBLCB v3.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Registered Midwife with current NMC registration at Band 6
2. •Educated to degree level
3. •SSSA or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

4. Understanding of audit and how to present findings
5. Ability to demonstrate significant experience in all midwifery practice
6. Sound knowledge of MIS & SBLCBv3.
7. Ability to offer constructive suggestions for service improvement.
8. Knowledge and understanding of information governance.
9. Ability to work within set timeframes working to priorities and deadlines, whilst monitoring the quality of own and others work
10. Ability to use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively and encourage others to do so.
11. Understanding and application of human factors
12. Sound knowledge of the governance agenda
13. Sound knowledge of current issues in maternity
14. Demonstrated ability of leading case reviews, and being part of a Quality Improvement initiative

Skills

Essential criteria

15. Ability to work as part of a multi- disciplinary team and under deadlines
16. Excellent interpersonal, managerial, and organisational skills.
17. Be motivated and exercise own initiative.
18. Ability to record and report back accurately and fully on patient assessments undertaken and risks identified
19. Ability to prioritise clinical work effectively
20. Clear understanding and application of professional accountability, responsibility, and confidentiality

Desirable criteria

21. Proven competency in suturing, cannulation, IV administration, epidurals, water birth, adult, and neonatal resuscitation.

22. •Ability to work as part of a multi- disciplinary team.
23. •Ability communicates effectively, both written and verbally.
24. •Ability to self-reflect, carry out tasks of own job and identify what s/he needs to learn to able to do current job better
