Lead Software Engineer - C# / Go / SQL Server / Kubernetes. C#, Go, React.js, SQL Server, REST & GraphQL APIs, GCP, Kubernetes, Git. Salary up to £100k. Hybrid - 2 days onsite in Chester. Influential, hands-on leadership role with no line management.

As we continue to scale, we're looking for a Lead Back-End Engineer to help shape the evolution of our platform and lead key technical initiatives.
Who We're Seeking
We're looking for an experienced Lead Software engineer with a strong foundation in modern programming principles and a proven track record of delivering robust, cloud-based systems.
In this role, you'll provide hands-on technical leadership across key projects, work closely with product and engineering stakeholders, and play a pivotal role in evolving the architecture of our platform. You'll be given the autonomy to explore new ideas, recommend improvements, and guide best practices across the team.
Responsibilities

* Explore new ideas and recommend improvements to the technology stack and development processes.
* Lead by example in coding excellence, performance, and security considerations.
What You'll Need
* Proven experience with C# and/or Go in production environments.
* Strong experience with SQL Server and modern database architecture.
* RESTful and GraphQL API development.
* Experience with distributed cloud systems — Kubernetes in GCP.
* Deep understanding of software design patterns and architecture best practices.
* Prior experience acting as a technical lead within cross-functional teams.
* Excellent Git skills and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
* Passion for coaching, mentoring, and driving engineering excellence.
