We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Portsmouth, starting as soon as possible. The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across all subjects, with a focus on English, mathematics, and science. You will use assessment data to track pupil progress, identify learning gaps, and provide targeted support. Developing independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours will be central to your role.
You will work closely with teaching assistants, phase colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards across Key Stage 2. Strong communication with parents and carers is also essential to support pupil progress.

* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
* Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning
* Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
* Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
* Promote independence, resilience, and positive behaviour
* Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers
* Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school improvement initiatives

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
* Be confident delivering the national curriculum
* Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
* Show a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
* Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
Early Career Teachers are welcome and will receive mentoring and guidance.
