Receptionist – full‑time position based at Bousfield Health Centre, Westminster Road L4 4PP. The role involves welcoming patients, managing the front desk, and supporting the clinical team with a range of administrative duties.
Job Details
* Reports to: Practice Manager
* Hours: Full‑time and part‑time shifts available on a rota basis (8am‑6.30pm)
* Location: Bousfield Health Centre, Westminster Road L4 4PP
* Employment status: Permanent
Responsibilities
* Offer assistance to the team and project a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, both in person, online, and on the telephone.
* Assist and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient manner.
* Process and issue prescriptions within standard timeframes as per practice policy.
* Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
* Process and distribute mail and manage patient records, including scanning, read‑coding, and summarising medical records.
* Handle computer data entry, allocation, and collation, ensuring compliance with data protection and practice procedures.
* Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and other healthcare agencies.
* File and retrieve paperwork; clear and restock consultation rooms as required.
* Monitor fridge temperatures and ensure waiting and treatment areas are tidy and free from obstructions.
* Provide clerical assistance to practice staff as needed, such as word and data processing, filing, and photocopying.
* Maintain confidentiality and protect patient privacy in accordance with policy.
* Assist in promoting health, safety, and security within the workplace.
* Support equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, providing respectful and welcoming service to all patients and staff.
* Participate in training programmes, performance reviews, and continuous professional development activities.
Person Specification
* Excellent customer‑service skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and helpful attitude.
* Experience of working in a GP practice, preferably in a reception role within an NHS setting.
* Knowledge of EMIS Web and basic IT skills.
* Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and health‑and‑safety procedures.
* Ability to adapt to changing work demands and priorities.
Additional Information
Disclosure and Barring Service check is required as part of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Candidates must be willing to undergo the necessary vetting process.
