About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic legal practitioner or former practitioner with a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of lawyers for admission. This role offers an opportunity to apply professional experience to the development of new lawyers through UNSW’s Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP) and the University’s Practical Legal Training (PLT) program.
The position focuses on preparing graduates for professional life by connecting legal education directly to current practice. Working alongside practitioner mentors and industry partners, this role will support students’ development of practical skills, professional judgement and ethical awareness as they transition into the profession. It also includes the integration of work‑integrated learning (WIL), AI‑enhanced practice tools and practitioner‑led mentoring to ensure UNSW’s PLT program remains a national leader in professional legal education.

Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in law, and admission as a legal practitioner in Australia, with 3‑5 years post‑admission experience in legal practice.
* Evidence of teaching/practice experience in two or more disciplines, e.g., Litigation; Commercial and Property Practice, Administrative law, Family law, Banking and Finance, Consumer law, Employment law or Criminal Law.
* Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development.
* Experience using practice technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of highly developed organisational skills and ability to deliver in a fast‑paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, practitioners, and professional bodies.
* Demonstrated experience in mentoring or supervising junior practitioners or law graduates and commitment to student wellbeing and helping graduates’ transition successfully into the profession.
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Additional Qualifications for Level C
* Demonstrated success in initiating practice education development and improvement.
* Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
* Demonstrated ability to interact with profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
