We’re seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Services Manager to take the lead on mechanical and HVAC operations and maintenance across a significant estate. The Role As Technical Services Manager, you will oversee all aspects of mechanical and HVAC systems maintenance—spanning heating, ventilation, water services, gas, air conditioning, and more. You’ll lead a team of Maintenance Engineers and supervise external contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of both planned and reactive works. You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Manager and Built Estate Manager to develop and deliver a robust maintenance programme that aligns with performance and compliance targets. From managing technical documentation and safety protocols to supporting strategic decisions and mentoring apprentices, this role offers variety and responsibility in equal measure. Key Responsibilities Include: Leading and supervising the maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems Supporting the planning, delivery, and compliance of all maintenance activity Managing contractors and overseeing project handovers, commissioning, documentation, and defect liability issues Ensuring full compliance with statutory, mandatory, and health and safety requirements (e.g. RAMS, JSP 375) Acting as a nominated Duty Holder or Authorised/Competent Person Managing team performance, delivering toolbox talks, and driving a high-performing, safety-focused culture Collaborating across departments to deliver a seamless service to end users Participating in the on-call rota and supporting key technical staffing requirementsWhat You'll Bring Qualifications in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering (multi-skilled backgrounds welcomed) Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation (including COSHH, RIDDOR) Proven experience managing engineering/maintenance teams Ability to deliver high standards while meeting SLAs, budgets, and safety targets Full UK driving licence and eligibility for SC clearance Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skillsDesirable: Prior experience with mechanical/HVAC systems in commercial or MOD settings Accredited first aid and health & safety qualifications Membership of a relevant professional body Existing SC clearanceThis is the ideal role for a technically confident, people-focused professional who leads by example and thrives in a structured, compliance-driven environment.
