Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Multi-skilled Engineer - Electrical Bias to work with a prestigious Mitie client to conduct work that provides a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers electrical and mechanical disciplines and to provide a reactive and pro‑active maintenance service as per project requirements to all operational equipment on Critical National Infrastructure site.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for carrying out routine PPM tasks and planned maintenance in line with scheduled dates along with reactive repairs and electrical installation work as required. Ensure all documentation is completed correctly for all tasks and that reactive tasks are reported and recorded on to the CAFM system. You may also be called upon to assist with general building maintenance activities. You should carry out work in high standards and in line with current company policies and procedures and report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment. You will be responsible for ensuring your own work and the work of those under supervision is completed in a safe and diligent manner.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have up‑to‑date training including but not limited to City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 qualification or equivalent, 17th/18th edition IEE wiring regulations and experience using a range of maintenance equipment. IPAF 3A & 3B and basic mechanical knowledge is desirable but not essential, and good knowledge of building statutory compliance is required. The candidate must be able to read and understand technical drawings, have good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills and be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. They will need to be responsible for themselves and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
Shift Pattern
This role is for a CNI Shift Engineer to cover the site as per the following rota: 5 days on, 2 off; 6 days on, 3 off – covering 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Normal working hours – day shift 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. On‑call rota to support the site out‑of‑hours – when on shift, also on call.
Desirable Skills
* BMS Knowledge.
* Experience (essential) of maintaining all relevant mechanical and electrical equipment to clearly defined criteria.
* Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20 kg.
* Experience of working in a critical environment/data centre.
* Willingness to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and flexible in working patterns.
* Suitable training may be given when needed to ensure the candidate is competent to achieve the required skills.
