About the Role
The Operations Manager (OM) is a senior management role within the Managed Services department, overseeing the delivery of services in the Telecommunications (Voice and Data) Network Infrastructure sector. The OM will lead several teams working across multiple client accounts and is accountable for the commercial and operational performance of those accounts.
Collaborating closely with Service Delivery teams—especially Service Delivery Managers—the OM ensures contractual obligations are met while optimising profitability. They will also support the Sales Team in developing business opportunities within existing accounts and pursuing new ones.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure timely submissions and approval of time-sheets and expenses, adhering to payroll and financial reporting deadlines.
* Oversee financial performance across allocated accounts, ensuring maximum turnover and profitability.
* Produce timely and accurate management reports for internal use and clients.
* Support sales efforts, including RFP responses, client meetings, and presentations.
* Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures.
* Optimise use of resources across Managed Services.
* Ensure completion of mandatory training and documentation.
* Manage commercial risk within accounts.
* Handle inward or outward service transitions.
* Maintain documentation in line with internal and client requirements.
* Track daily activities, task completion, incidents, and project status.
* Lead or contribute to special projects as needed.
* Represent Managed Services across the business, fostering cross-team communication and collaboration.
Requirements
* Extensive experience in Service Delivery and/or Project Management.
* Senior management experience.
* Strong background in Telecommunications (Voice and Data) Cabling Infrastructure.
* Proven success managing multi-million-pound Managed Services contracts.
* Experience leading large support teams (40+ staff) on client accounts.
* In-depth knowledge of structured cabling standards and cable types (FTP, UTP, Optical Fibre).
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
* Strong organisational skills, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
* Ability to prioritise, multitask, and work under pressure.
* Expert in Asset Management Systems and ITSM Ticketing Systems.
* Deep understanding of change management and service delivery processes.
* Ability to mentor and train new staff.
* Competent in approving/signing off training modules.
* Skilled at leading projects from design to handover.
* Experience in managing 3rd-party service providers.
Preferred (Not Essential)
* ITIL® (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification.
