Clinical Haematology Service
The Clinical Haematology service covers the full range of adult haematological disorders including all types of haematological malignancy, apart from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. We are a non‑comprehensive haemophilia centre. The multidisciplinary team benefits from specialist input from HMDS, local radiologists and a Leeds Clinical Oncologist. High‑intensity chemotherapy is provided solely on the York site, where there is a purpose‑built 18‑bedded inpatient facility and a Haematology‑Oncology outpatient and chemotherapy unit. Scarborough provides a low‑intermediate chemotherapy service in a dedicated outpatient and chemotherapy unit. High‑intensity chemotherapy provision for Scarborough is shared with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust through agreed protocols and pathways.
Current Role & Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and laboratory support in haematology across York and Scarborough sites.
* Participate in a one‑in‑seven non‑resident on‑call rota.
* Contribute to the delivery of outpatient chemotherapy on both sites and inpatient care on the York site.
* Collaborate with specialist nursing teams, pharmacists and physician associates for clinic management.
* Engage with the hospital transfusion committee and the regional transfusion committee through the Laboratory Lead consultants.
* Work within the existing structure of standardised laboratory services accredited by UKAS and IBMS.
Qualifications & Fit
* Excellent communication and team‑working skills.
* Strong clinical acumen in haematology, with an interest in high‑intensity chemotherapy and haematological malignancy.
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary framework and to support both clinical and academic development.
