Are you an organised, reliable individual with a keen eye for detail, looking to start your career in a supportive and professional environment?

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience and develop valuable industry skills within a busy and dynamic Engineering Stores function, while working towards a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship qualification.

As an Apprentice Stores Person, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of training programmes by ensuring engineering components, tools and equipment are available, maintained and issued efficiently to customers. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will develop practical knowledge of stock control, stores operations, customer service and health and safety practices, building a strong foundation for a successful career in the sector.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

The post-holder will be supported in developing the knowledge and skills to:

1. Maintain and carry out visual checks of tools/equipment to ensure serviceability.
2. Prepare and manage parts kits in line with training specifications and operational needs.
3. Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring accurate inventory records and safe storage practices.
4. Carry out safe manual handling of stored items and storage racking systems, bins, baskets, hoppers etc.
5. Provide an efficient and professional stores counter service, including issuing and receiving tools/equipment. Source or recommend suitable alternatives when requested items are unavailable.
6. Operate mechanical handling equipment, including forklift trucks (training provided).
7. Support site logistics by escorting deliveries and collecting parcels as required.
8. Maintain a clean, organised and safe Stores environment.
