An exciting opportunity is available for a Nurse Consultant to join our Critical Care team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation trust. We are looking for an exceptional, dynamic individual with a proven track record in critical care nursing to join our committed and dedicated multi-disciplinary team. The role will be pivotal to work collaboratively with the leadership team in building capacity and expanding services to shape and define our Critical Care Strategy across the Group. We provide monitoring and critical care services for our local population and to patients referred from hospitals across the UK. We are globally recognised for our clinical expertise and specialist services portfolio. We are a tertiary referral centre for renal, liver, Hepato-biliary surgery, colorectal, and vascular services. The critical Care services at the Royal Free Hospital comprises 50 beds with an additional 18 -bedded critical care unit at Barnet Hospital. Main duties of the job • Lead a service redesign empowering the Critical care/PARRT nursing team to meet the needs of the local population in line with key objectives outlined in local and national policy documents. • Lead, negotiate, supervise, participate in and manage nurse/ACP led services appropriate to service needs (ie referral, triage, virtual/outpatient or telephone clinics) within critical care/community. • To provide career development for nursing teams & ACPs • To manage caseload of patients from diagnosis to treatment in Consultant Nurse clinics • In collaboration with critical care leadership, actively promote and engage teams in contributing to Clinical Pathway Groups (CPGS) and wider quality improvement work. • Provide expert clinical advice to all medical and nursing critical care/PARRT staff to ensure best practice standards are met that will improve clinical outcomes and influence a reduction in unnecessary interventions and facilitate self-management for chronic conditions. • Making a significant contribution to the clinical governance agenda by ensuring practice is evidence based and through the development of staff competence at all levels • To lead on education for Critical care/PARRT nursing and non-medical professionals with academic providers • Develop the research and audit strategy ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach at all times • To represent the critical care service at external networks and report on progress to the Group & Division About us The Royal Free combines globally recognised clinical expertise with local and friendly hospital care to represent the best in NHS treatment.We always strive to provide excellent outcomes in clinic treatments, clinical research, and doctor training, as well an excellent working environment for hospital staff. Job responsibilities The successful candidate will be a senior clinical expert leader with extensive critical care/PARRT experience and a track record of leading and implementing change. You will have an identified case load of patients, leading on an aspect of advanced practice. The caseload will be negotiated with the successful candidate and depending on their specialist expertise and interests. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence based clinical and professional standards. Additionally, you must demonstrate visionary leadership with an ability to inspire and motivate staff to realise their potential full and develop new sub specialist roles. The position is full time, requiring 37.5 hours per week, we do support flexible working options. The post holder is expected to primarily cover the RFH Critical Care service and have clinical oversight all RFL PARRT services across the RFL group. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the growth and development of critical care & PARRT services, collaborating with medical, nursing, AHP and clinical psychologist colleagues to promote world class clinical care, education, and research.
