Overview
Production Engineering – Mechanical Fitter 5 Crew - 1788 Doncaster Plant. Ardagh Glass is a key business unit that has manufactured glass containers since 1968 and is part of a leading supplier in glass packaging solutions for the world’s leading brands. We are seeking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter within the Production Engineering Department. The main purpose of this role is to maintain and repair Independent System (IS) machines to ensure they run efficiently to enable production of quality glass for beverage containers and glass food jars.
Responsibilities
* Set up IS (Independent Section) machines and related equipment
* Identify faults with the machines and make necessary adjustments to ensure correct operation, maintain efficiency and reduce downtime
* Maintain IS machines and related equipment in accordance with a pre‑planned schedule to reduce mechanical malfunctions and maintain effective operations
* Repair equipment coming off the IS machines ready for re-use to maintain efficiency
Qualifications
* Gained a recognised mechanical engineering qualification/apprentice trained, or equivalent
* Ability to carry out related work: basic welding, fabrication, pipe work installation
* Commitment and enthusiasm to work flexibly as part of a team providing 24‑hour support to production
* Ability to follow instruction and work under pressure both as part of a team and independently
* Fault recognition skills & good problem‑solving ability, with excellent communication skills
What we offer
* Salary Minimum £44,293 - £52,272 Maximum per Annum
* Salary sacrifice pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
* Normal shift pattern is determined by the 5‑crew shift rota, typically consisting of two 12‑hour day shifts followed by two 12‑hour night shifts and then a six‑day rest period, including 21 shifts when working the 5 crew 12‑hour shift rota; holidays are built into the shift 5 crew rota
