What's involved with this role: Job Title: Disrepair Surveyor Ref: Bristol 5273233 Pay rate: £231.22 per day PAYE Role length: Anticipated 2 – 3 months Working arrangements: Site based Additional requirement: Driving Licence The role: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Disrepair Surveyor to join a dedicated team, working on-site most days and attending tenants’ homes. This is a key role in managing legal Housing Condition Claims in partnership with Legal Services and supporting the delivery of high-quality repairs and maintenance services to tenants. In order to carry out this role, you must be experienced in surveying or property inspections—preferably in social housing or the public sector—along with strong knowledge of housing disrepair legislation, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage complex cases and work collaboratively with legal teams and contractors. You must be organised, self-motivated, and capable of handling a varied caseload while maintaining high standards of customer service. Key Responsibilities: Investigate and manage housing disrepair complaints raised as legal claims, ensuring cases are handled efficiently and in line with legal and internal procedures Conduct thorough property inspections to assess disrepair issues and determine the necessary remedial work Coordinate and monitor the completion of repair works by trade teams and contractors, ensuring high-quality outcomes within budget and timescales Communicate effectively with tenants, providing clear, detailed reports and updates throughout the claims and repair process Support early resolution of complaints through the Internal Complaints Procedure (ICP), avoiding escalation to litigation wherever possible Contribute to service improvement by championing the customer experience and delivering value-for-money solutions Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies What the client is looking for: Previous experience in surveying or property inspections, ideally within social housing or public sector Strong knowledge of housing disrepair legislation, standards and procedures Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage expectations and diffuse challenging situations Experience of working collaboratively with legal teams and contractors Organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage a varied caseload How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
