About the Role
We are looking for both a Mechanical Estimator and an Electrical Estimator to join our growing commercial team. These roles will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial mechanical and electrical projects, supporting the business in securing new work and delivering profitable projects.
You will work closely with the commercial, design, and operations teams to assess tender documentation, identify risks and opportunities, and produce detailed cost submissions.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for mechanical or electrical installation projects.

Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project requirements.
*
Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and material pricing.
*
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
*
Prepare bill of quantities and cost breakdowns.
*
Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project competitiveness.
*
Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams during the tender process.
*
Assist in preparing technical and commercial tender returns.
*
Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where required.
*
Support the commercial team during post-tender negotiations and handover to project delivery teams.
*
Maintain and update cost databases and estimating records.
Skills & Experience
*
Experience in an estimating role within an M&E contractor or building services environment.
*
Strong understanding of commercial mechanical or electrical installations.
*
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
*
Experience preparing competitive tenders for commercial projects.
*
Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
*
Good communication skills and ability to work within a commercial team environment.
*
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
*
Knowledge of UK construction and procurement processes.
Desirable
*
Background in building services engineering.
*
Experience working on commercial, healthcare, education, or industrial projects.
*
HNC/HND/Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
*
Membership of a professional body such as CIBSE or IET (beneficial)
