Job Summary
We seek a creative, self-motivated Research Scientist to develop mathematical models for mechanical systems dynamics. The role involves deriving models of complex mechanical systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, engaging with business and engineering units, and presenting findings internally and externally.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Model complex mechanical systems dynamics.
2. Review and report on industry modelling approaches.
3. Collaborate with experimentalists to validate models and align them with experimental or field data.
4. Engage with the SLB technical community.
5. Develop innovative solutions to research and engineering problems and communicate them effectively.
6. Publish scientific papers, write patent applications, and participate in conferences.
Qualifications & Experience
* PhD in Applied Mathematics or a related discipline, preferably with knowledge of Mechanical Engineering.
* Core subjects include Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Numerical Methods, Engineering Mechanics, Vibrations and Acoustics, System Modelling and Simulation, and Control Systems.
* Proficiency in tools like MATLAB, Simulink, ANSYS, SolidWorks, Abaqus, or ADAMS (optional), and programming skills in Python, C++, or MATLAB.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive and quantify uncertainties in models.
* Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals are desirable.
