Purpose of the Job
Responsible for supporting the creation and delivery of a diverse range of digital content across the university’s social media channels. Lead the development of engaging, sector- leading social media activities that leverage the opportunities offered by all digital platforms. The successful candidate will join the Communications team to generate new and engaging content tailored to our audiences in line with the Social Media Strategy. Additionally, the role, where required, involves covering various university events, supporting digital campaigns, and ensuring all digital content is of high quality and aligns with our brand. The desirable candidate will have proven experience in creating engaging social media content and an excellent understanding of digital platforms. The ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. The post holder will join the Communications team to help generate new and engaging content that is appropriate for our audiences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Social Media
1. To provide effective Social Media support activity within the Marketing, Communications & Recruitment Department.
2. To assist with the development of engaging and effective social media content which balances the corporate and the quirky, the serious and the fun.
3. To communicate effectively with both staff and students and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the University, and any external body.
4. To adapt content to ensure it is relevant to different audiences and to different platforms in particular ensuring that it is positive and relevant.
5. To monitor and engage with audiences.
6. To grow social media audiences and their active engagement across all channels.
7. To monitor and report on social media reach and impact.
8. To stay up to date with the latest social media trends and new channels including which audiences are using what and how.
General
9. To network and build relationships internally and externally.
10. To work collaboratively and proactively with Communications, Brand, Marketing and Recruitment and the wider community to support and integrate with their work.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
11. The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

15. The post holder must comply with relevant legal and financial policies and procedures and be aware of their responsibilities in terms of the legal requirements of their posts. · Some occasional weekend work is required to cover University events.

Essential
16. Educated to A level standard (or equivalent) or have equivalent relevant experience.

17. Evidence of continuing professional development.

18. Previous experience of managing corporate social media channels.
19. Experience of creating content and seamlessly blending messages with more innovative content.
20. Experience of identifying/posting content that is appropriate for audience/platform.
21. Experience of using a social media management and monitoring tools and of measuring and reporting on success.
22. Experience of successfully growing audience size, diversity and engagement.
Desirable
23. Experience of managing social media and / or video production within higher education.
24. Experience of producing high quality and high impact video’s which are tailored to different channels.
25. Experience of video production via a range of facilities including camera, phone and applications such as Teams.
26. Experience of using video editing software and of editing, doing voice overs and adding subtitles to video content.
27. Experience of training and / or advising others on the use of social media.
