A leading manufacturer of metal products is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team at their office based in the Dudley area.
The ideal candidate will be a hard‑working, adaptable and personable Design Engineer with a strong background in 2D AutoCad and experience in the sheet metal industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity with a leading company that is expanding rapidly, with a goal of doubling their turnover within the next decade.
The Design department is currently operating on a straight days shift pattern, on a 40 hour work week, five days in the office, 07:30 – 16:00.
Role: Design Engineer
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
Key Areas of Responsibilities
* Collaborate with customers and Sales to clarify engineering requirements and specifications
* Prepare and release accurate drawings, specifications and production data to support manufacturing and delivery “right first time”
* Review work orders and drawings to minimise errors and rework
* Use and maintain CAD/CAM systems and records to enable efficient order processing
* Support process development, continuous improvement and material optimisation
* Assist production teams with process updates, training and in‑process quality checks
* Help identify and resolve design or specification issues in collaboration with production teams
* Contribute to cost control initiatives, value engineering and make‑or‑buy decisions
* Maintain design standards and support standardisation projects
* Stay informed on manufacturing capabilities, materials and emerging production techniques
* Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role as required
Skills & Experience
* HND or degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
* Strong communication and customer relationship skills
* Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and Radan (2D)
* Team‑oriented with a collaborative approach to work
