The purpose of the role is to be responsible for supporting the Senior Estimator in their commercial management duties on a national basis to monitor, assist and audit the work of 29 regional offices on all elements of groundworks, roads & sewers and civil engineering works associated with house building developments. Further support to obtain further construction related qualifications will be considered. What you'll do as a Trainee Estimator Undertaking administrative duties to support the wider team. Reviewing tender information pack (drawings, scope of works, specification, geotechnical/environmental reports) and taking detailed and comprehensive notes. Assist in carrying out detailed measurement of Groundworks & Infrastructure projects, to a high degree of accuracy, utilising measurement software. Undertake analysis of tender submissions (rates, quantities, specification & scope of works). Updating/maintain library of standard rates. Maintain schedules of work and diarise workload. Attend pre-construction meetings with potential sub-contractors as required. Liaison with other departments on time to ensure efficiency. Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group's Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team to promote safety in the way we build projects. What experience do I need? Fully conversant with Microsoft Packages, including Word and particularly Excel. At least 5 GCSE at Grade 5 or above to include English and Maths, or equivalent NVQ Level 3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Previous construction estimating/surveying related experience, including the use of measurement software (Bluebeam, On Sight, Autodesk Design Review etc.) would be desirable but not essential. Experience within the house building or groundworks industry is desirable but not essential. A broad understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental, Building Regulations and legal guidelines preferable. Full UK driving license is advantageous.
