Senior Project Manager, Initial 6-12m Contract, possible temp to perm, Cambridgeshire Your new company Our client is seeking a highly capable and practical Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver a portfolio of capital projects ranging from £500K to £20M. This is a strategic yet hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong FM/construction project management experience and a proven track record of client-side delivery. The successful candidate will oversee both long-term development aligned with a major strategic plan and immediate short-term projects requiring urgent attention. This includes new sustainable builds, refurbishment of heritage assets, and compliance upgrades. Your new role Initial 6 Months: Immediate project management support is required for a series of short-term works. These include: Fire Door Redevelopment & Refurbishment – £400K Summer Works Programme – £100K External Redecoration Programme – £150K Fire Alarm Upgrade Programme – £320K This phase will involve tendering, contractor management, budget control, and extensive client-side liaison. Candidates with less than 10 years’ experience will be considered if they demonstrate strong practical competence, resilience, and excellent organisational and communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of medium and large-scale capital projects from inception to completion. Develop project specifications, ensuring clarity on scope, quality, cost, and environmental impact. Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring delivery on time and within financial parameters. Oversee contractor selection, appointment, and performance management. Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and building standards. Maintain accurate project records and provide regular progress reports.Develop and implement standardised project governance and methodology What you'll need to succeed Proven experience managing capital projects across all RIBA stages. Strong FM/construction background with client-side project management experience. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Proficient in MS Project, Excel, Word. PRINCE2 qualified or equivalent. Degree in a relevant construction, FM or property discipline, or equivalent experience. Self-starting, resilient, and highly organised. What you'll get in return This is an initial 6-12 month contract with the possibility of converting into a permanent role. You'll receive a day rate of up to £450 per day inside of IR35, across a 37 hour working week.
