Overview
Maritime Structural Engineer role at QinetiQ. The position involves delivering testing and evaluation consultancy services in hydrodynamics, submarine escape and evacuation, and maritime structures, with a focus on the design and analysis of submarine and ship structures using numerical tools.
Your Role
As a Maritime Structural Engineer, you will work on a major programme delivering technical projects related to submarine and ship structures. You will develop deliverables, design reports and documentation, and brief customers on work and findings. The role may involve opportunities to contribute to related groups such as propulsor/propeller design, dynamic stability, seakeeping, resistance and propulsion of surface ships and submarines.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop capabilities in your areas of expertise and mentor others within the engineering and technical community.
* Apply engineering judgement to solve problems and break down complex tasks into a planned schedule of work.
* Manage projects/programmes to meet quality, timescale, and budget requirements.
* Present technical information and findings at external forums, conferences, and customer meetings.
Essential Experience
* Demonstrable experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
* Understanding of structural assessment, preferably maritime structures.
Essential Qualifications
* BEng / MEng in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Role Details
This role is 37 hours per week, based at Rosyth.
