Senior Project Manager - Finance and Business Management - 31005
We have an exciting opportunity to become involved in the strategic planning and business management of the largest digital transformation programme within the Environment & Business directorate. The Regulatory Services Programme is responsible for delivering digital services that will transform how the Environment Agency regulates.
You will lead within the Programme Management Office (PMO), providing valuable input into the financial and business management of the Programme to support risk mitigation, issue resolution, and value for money delivery. The role requires managing complex financial information, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities include:
* Understanding and supporting the financial and economic cases underpinning the Programme’s business case and bids.
* Ensuring programme deliverables align with strategic objectives and managing change control processes.
* Supporting the Programme Manager to assure changes to Time, Cost, and Quality, ensuring affordability and value for money.
* Managing stakeholder queries and delivering regular financial and programme reports.
* Supporting investment activities and ensuring adherence to governance and assurance standards.
* Supporting business management through whole life cost allocations.
Team and Environment
You will work within the Digital, Innovation and Programmes team, responsible for the Digital Strategy and its implementation, alongside multidisciplinary teams, Defra shared services, and third-party suppliers. The role involves shaping user-centered digital services that are efficient, simple, and fast.
Experience and Skills
Beneficial but not essential experience includes:
* Working in fast-paced, dynamic programmes
* Digital skills across Microsoft products (Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.)
* Managing complex financial information
* Understanding of financial, business planning, and budgetary processes (charge funding, CDEL, RDEL)
* Experience with business cases, approvals, and assurance routes
* Knowledge of governance around spend control and assurance processes
* Stakeholder engagement and driving innovation
