Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist

Are you a dynamic, highly motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic nurse with a high level of knowledge and skills in palliative care?

If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a part‑time (26.5 hours) Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join a busy Specialist Palliative Care Team in Pembrokeshire. This is a chance to join a team that are passionate about delivering the first‑class specialist palliative and end of life care.

The postholder will work a weekday pattern of three days (9.00am-5.00pm) and one half day (9.00am-1.00pm) and will be required to participate in the weekend roster.


Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to provide specialist nursing care, advice, guidance, education and leadership of junior roles. Please see full job description.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care and provide expert advice and clinical practice.

You will be able to work autonomously and manage your own caseload whilst providing specialist education and training. You will be expected to work collaboratively and co‑operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and the quality of care delivered, providing leadership in the development of clinical services within the specialist field.

Support quality improvement initiatives within the service

You will at all times demonstrate the Health Board's values and ensure that others demonstrate the same values.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

* Registered Nurse (Part 1)
* Current NMC Registration
* Masters Degree or equivalent experience
* Specialist qualifications
* Expert level of clinical skills and knowledge in clinical speciality
* Knowledge of service improvement
* Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers


Desirable

* Teaching qualification
* Management qualification
* Advanced clinical skills
* Non-medical Prescribing course


Experience


Essential

* Experience in the relevant specialty
* Experience of working in a multi‑professional environment
* Experience of managing a ward/area/department
* Experience of working with pre‑registration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
* Experience of undertaking audit


Desirable

* Experience of participating in research

* Flexibility in working pattern to ensure maximum visibility of CNS team
