This is an exciting opportunity to join the Highways Streetlighting team and help shape future lighting growth in Worcestershire, as well as maintaining and upgrading current assets. The postholder will deliver ambitious highway maintenance, upgrade, replacement, and new lighting schemes benefiting residents and wider communities, including work on some of Worcestershire's largest developments.
The County's lighting network is critical to economic growth, with planned investments in the road network, rail stations, service connectivity, and active travel. Worcestershire has a strong record of delivery, including converting lighting assets to LED technology, dualling the A4440 around Worcester, delivering Worcestershire Parkway rail station, and active travel infrastructure like Kepax bridge across the Severn.
The county is a diverse mix of rural and urban communities, benefiting from a high-quality environment. Major rivers like the Severn, Avon, and Teme shape the landscape and growth proposals. Ecology and lighting often conflict, requiring careful consideration and implementation.
The postholder will work closely with Worcestershire Local Planning Authorities and developers, managing all aspects of the lighting process from pre-application to completion, helping shape infrastructure proposals from concept to reality.
