Job objectives and responsibilities
We are seeking a dedicated Financial Administrator to provide an effective and efficient financial administration service to the Prison.
1. Process all bank and cash transactions, producing daily reconciliations of Prisoner Fund accounts.
2. Assist with month-end reconciliations and ensure timely submission of returns to the Finance Department (HQ).
3. Process invoices and travel & subsistence claims; prepare and process journals for prisoner transfers.
4. Prepare daily and weekly journals to reconcile prisoner personal cash, wages, and PIN phone transactions.
5. Conduct daily cash checks and reconciliations, investigating discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
6. Ensure all monies are banked securely and promptly, maintaining the security of the cash office
7. Deliver financial administrative services in line with contractual and company standards.
8. Administer all aspects of prisoner accounts with accuracy and confidentiality.
9. Liaise with the company's Finance Business Partner (FBP) to report relevant and timely financial information.
10. Maintain manual and electronic records to ensure data is current and accessible.
11. Support the wider administrative team to ensure smooth operations across the establishment.
Essential
12. Relevant previous experience in an administrative role handling sensitive and confidential information, including pay and cash
13. Clear communicator with a good standard or verbal and written English
14. Intermediate or better IT Skills: Proficient and confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Desirable
15. Qualifications or accreditation to Level 2 or above: CSE - grade 1, GCSE - grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or grades A*, A, B, C, intermediate apprenticeship, level 2 NVQ, Award, Certificate or Diploma
16. Previous experience of working in a finance administrative support role
