Wood is looking for a full time, permanent Senior HSE Advisor to be based at our client’s offices in Aberdeen, Scotland. The role is offered on a hybrid basis (3 days client office / 2 days WFH). Offshore trips may be required.
The Role
Provide day‑to‑day support for the client’s HSSE operations, ensuring consistent alignment with organisational needs.
Lead the development and execution of processes and procedures that advance the client’s HSSE strategy and business goals. Offer expert advice, direction, and support to management and staff to enable the effective delivery of HSSE standards, strategy, and objectives.
Collaborate with business units and functional teams to foster a proactive and positive HSSE culture, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Our Clients and Projects
The Operated Assets Service Line is an exciting and expanding area of our business, providing critical operations services to the energy sector – including duty holder, managed service and TAR delivery – for 10 UK customers. Most of our contracts have been built over long term relationships which has allowed us to extend and re‑win contract agreements – our secured pipeline of work is extremely stable for the next 3 years and continually growing.
Responsibilities
* Lead and guide employees and contractors to ensure full understanding and effective implementation of all HSE policies, processes, and procedures.
* Oversee and ensure the effective and efficient management of emergency response operations for both onshore and offshore assets, in full compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
* Ensure effective HSE management of contractors by maintaining a safe working environment through structured oversight and engagement.
* Actively collaborate with contractors to align Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives with organizational objectives.
* Serve as Business or Contract Sponsor for Health & Safety agreements as needed, providing oversight and strategic support to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
* Collaborate with PSCM to support the completion of contractor HSE evaluations, ensuring alignment with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in incident investigations as a team member or lead investigator, ensuring thorough analysis and documentation.
* Review incident reports for accuracy and completeness and manage the administration of the Synergi system to support effective incident tracking and resolution.
* Ensure that lessons learned from incidents are effectively communicated and shared across the organisation to promote continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.
* Provide HSE support to Subsea & Wells as required.
* Oversee onshore Health, Safety, and Environmental management activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards while promoting a safe and proactive work environment.
* Foster active engagement with Safety Representatives and the wider workforce to promote a collaborative safety culture, encourage open communication, and support continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
* Maintain the HSSE component of the Management System, including the review, development, and continuous improvement of HSSE management system documentation, processes, and procedures to ensure relevance and compliance.
* Conduct reviews of Contractor HSE Plans, Interface Documents, Operational Plans, and Emergency Response Plans as needed to ensure alignment with company standards, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.
* Plan and conduct audits in alignment with the annual audit schedule, ensuring thorough evaluation of HSSE compliance and continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate and / or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety. Preferred NEBOSH Diploma and / or NVQ level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety.
Proven track record in both onshore and offshore environments, particularly in oil & gas & energy.
Experience leading incident investigations and audits.
Extensive experience in both onshore and offshore ER management and contractor management.
Lead Auditor qualification is advantageous.
Ability to travel to offshore assets if required.
