The successful candidate will be part of Saffery’s Corporate Tax team, responsible for managing a diverse client portfolio, encompassing the delivery of both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. This is a challenging and interesting client-facing role, which will include exposure to a range of both UK and international clients.
The responsibilities
Frequently dealing with challenging technical issues, the candidate can expect the role to encompass the following areas amongst others:
1. Preparation and review of corporation tax computations;
2. Managing key milestones, return, and payment deadlines;
3. Corresponding with clients and HMRC;
4. Supporting Partners and Managers on tax advisory assignments and planning projects, including international tax, capital allowances, R&D tax relief, and structuring advice;
5. Advising on technical areas such as complex capital allowances claims, R&D tax relief, transfer pricing, Substantial Shareholdings Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies, Corporate Interest Restriction, Withholding Tax, and Double Taxation Relief, with support from specialists where required;
6. Providing support in tax advisory projects like structuring acquisitions and disposals, transaction support, and due diligence;
7. Guiding and supporting senior management to help achieve long-term career goals.
The team
Our Corporate Tax team spans 9 office locations, comprising 7 partners and over 100 professionals. They handle a large portfolio of clients across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, retail, recruitment, financial services, hospitality, and property. Clients range from small owner-managed businesses to large listed groups, charities, and non-profits.
You
The role suits a qualified individual (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CTA) with 1-2 years post-qualification experience in corporation tax.
The candidate should demonstrate:
* Strong UK tax technical skills and the ability to analyze queries and provide solutions;
* Project management skills, including planning, prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and monitoring budgets;
* Responsibility for work quality and delivery;
* Excellent communication skills;
* A client-focused approach and relationship-building skills;
* Ability to work collaboratively across teams; and
* Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and develop expertise in new areas.
