We are seeking a Manager to lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The ECU is a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties is expected. Incident response is a central part of our work; you may be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during incidents. Training and workplace adjustments are available to support you. Interviews will take place w/c 3rd November 2025.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership for financial investigations to ensure compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Lead and develop two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) to influence senior stakeholders and align with EA priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, sharing lessons learned, updating technical documentation, and advising enforcement officers nationwide on POCA.
* Contribute to the growth and capability of the Economic Crime Unit, which comprises Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts.
Team and Environment
The Economic Crime Unit consists of two teams – the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigations Team – across a nationally dispersed workforce, dealing with serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience and Qualifications
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in:
o Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
o Effective communication, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
o Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
o Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
o Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals

This is a hybrid role with travel requirements across the country for meetings and operational duties. Incident response may attract additional payment.
