Sowena Group has been exclusively retained by a high-growth, PE-backed consumer products group to appoint an ambitious FP&A Analyst in a newly created position based in the Merseyside area.
This is a rare opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to step into a highly visible, commercially focused FP&A role, supporting senior leadership across a dynamic and rapidly scaling business. With the backing of a well-regarded private equity firm and a planned transaction on the horizon within the next 12–24 months, the successful candidate will gain invaluable exposure to investor reporting, strategic finance, and the full deal lifecycle.
Working directly with an outstanding CFO, this is a hands-on role with wide scope, ideal for someone looking to make an impact, grow quickly, and accelerate their career in a fast-paced environment.
Role
* Join a newly established FP&A function, created to sharpen commercial insight and drive better decision-making across the business.
* Take ownership of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, with a focus on supporting performance improvement and strategic growth.
* Build and maintain robust financial models to support scenario planning, cost control and investment decisions.
* Prepare insightful monthly reporting packs and KPIs for senior leadership and PE stakeholders.
* Support the CFO in preparing for board meetings and investor updates ahead of a potential PE exit.
* Partner cross-functionally with teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing to influence business outcomes and support key initiatives.
* Play a key role in identifying performance trends, margin opportunities, and risks across the P&L and operational areas.
* Contribute to the development of a data-led, commercially minded finance culture within the wider business.
Profile
* Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or up to 1–2 years PQE, ideally trained in audit, practice or a fast-paced industry setting.
* Strong analytical mindset and genuine interest in commercial finance and business performance.
* Confident communicator, comfortable building relationships with stakeholders outside of finance.
* Proactive and curious – eager to get under the skin of the numbers and understand what drives performance.
* Strong Excel skills and ability to manage large data sets; Power BI or modelling experience is a bonus.
* Experience with stock, supply chain or product-led businesses is advantageous but not essential.
* Exposure to FP&A, budgeting or forecasting through training or early career experience is highly desirable.
