Overview
The Nottingham Caesars are a community American football club competing at Premiership level, powered by volunteers and supported by a growing fanbase, alumni network, and partners. Our mission is to provide an inclusive, competitive programme that develops players, coaches, and leaders on and off the field.
The Opportunity
The role: We’re seeking a non-executive President & Chair to lead the Committee, set direction, and enable our Directors (Operations, Football, Finance, Commercial, Communications, Welfare, Governance) to deliver a high-performing, well-governed club. This is a strategic leadership role—perfect for an experienced people-leader or aspiring executive looking for meaningful impact and standout CV credentials.
What you’ll do
* Lead the Committee: Chair monthly meetings; drive an action-oriented agenda and hold owners to account.
* Set strategy & standards: Agree season goals, budgets, and KPIs; publish a quarterly one-page scorecard to members.
* Enable delivery: Coach and support Directors; clear roadblocks; ensure resources and succession plans exist for key roles.
* Governance & compliance: Oversee safeguarding, data protection, financial controls, and risk management (with the DSL, Secretary, and Treasurer).
* Stakeholder leadership: Be the club’s senior representative with the league, partners, venues, and community organisations.
* Culture & inclusion: Model our values and ensure an inclusive, safe environment for players, volunteers, and supporters.
* Succession & continuity: Maintain a current risk register, policy library, and orderly handovers for all committee roles.
What success looks like (typical KPIs)
* Quarterly scorecards published; risk and action logs up to date.
* Approved budget delivered within ±5% variance.
* 90%+ of Director/Head roles filled and active.
* 100% safeguarding/DBS and mandatory training compliance.
* Membership growth/retention and partner renewals trending positively.
What you’ll bring
* Experience chairing meetings and leading teams/volunteers or SMEs.
* Strong stakeholder skills: you can influence, coach, and resolve issues promptly.
* Comfort with budgets, risk, and basic governance (sport, charity, or SME).
* Clear written/verbal communication and a calm, decisive style.
* Desirable: sport/events background; nonprofit governance; sponsorship/partnership exposure.
Time commitment
* Off-season ~4–6 hours/week; in-season ~6–8 hours/week.
* Monthly Remote Committee meeting (evening), ad-hoc check-ins with Directors, and key home game appearances.
What you’ll get
* Real executive-level leadership experience with measurable outcomes.
* Mentoring and references from senior leaders; LinkedIn recommendation after 12 months.
* A platform to shape an ambitious club and make a visible community impact.

The role is subject to background checks/DBS and adherence to club policies (safeguarding, code of conduct, data protection). We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and lived experiences.
