Client: My client is one of the UK’s leading M&E contractors, established nearly 75 years ago, with a turnover exceeding £250m annually. They have a strong track record of delivering landmark projects across the UK and London, specializing in shell and core projects in sectors such as commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and education. Despite their size, they maintain excellent staff retention and offer internal training and development opportunities.
Role: Senior Mechanical Project Manager – London – Salary £75,000 - £80,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Full Travel Expenses + Pension + Healthcare or £400-£450 per day.
The successful candidate will manage the mechanical shell and core packages on a £35m commercial refurbishment project, a 12-story office block with over a year remaining on the programme.
Responsibilities:
* Design Management: reviewing and liaising on design with clients, main contractors, and consultants.
* RFIs: coordinating with the client team, main contractor, and subcontractors.
* Value Engineering: identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Programming: scheduling works using MS Project or Asta Project.
* Health & Safety Management: preparing RAMs and ensuring safety compliance.
* Commercial Responsibilities: assisting with subcontractor variation accounts alongside project-specific QS.
* Managing variations and change control.
* Team Coordination: supervising junior engineers, construction managers, and supervisors.
* Conducting progress meetings with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
* Overseeing commissioning stages.
* Formulating OM Manuals and facilitating client handover.
Candidate Profile:
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
* Background in the commercial sector.
* Managing projects valued at a minimum of £10M within your discipline.
* At least 5 years of management experience.
* Experience working with main contractors such as Multiplex, Mace, Lendlease, or Kier is preferred.
* Demonstrated longevity in previous employment.
