An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public Rights of Way Officer to come and join a busy client in the Cheshire area.
The main duties of the experienced Public Rights of Way Officer are:
Manage and process Public Rights of Way applications, including diversions, extinguishments, creations, and reclassifications.
Support the maintenance and review of the Definitive Map and associated legal records.
Investigate and respond to enquiries, complaints, and requests relating to Public Rights of Way matters.
Provide professional advice on legal and procedural matters relating to Rights of Way and public access.
Carry out enforcement activities to address obstructions, misuse, or unlawful activity affecting Rights of Way networks.
Prepare legal documentation, reports, and case papers to support enforcement action, litigation, or prosecution proceedings.
Liaise with internal departments, external organisations, landowners, developers, statutory undertakers, and members of the public.
Represent the service at meetings, hearings, public inquiries, and stakeholder forums where required.
Review planning applications and development proposals affecting Public Rights of Way infrastructure.
Monitor and manage delegated budgets, including grant applications and funding claims.
Promote and support the development and use of Public Rights of Way networks across the borough.
Ensure all activities are delivered in line with relevant legislation, health and safety standards, and departmental procedures.
Assist with wider countryside access and network management initiatives as required.
Attend occasional out-of-hours meetings and site visits to support operational requirements.
