The blood transfusion practitioner team has a vacancy for a Band 6 nurse. We welcome all informal enquiries and visits, please get in touch to find out more! We are looking for an organised, and motivated person to deliver training and education to clinical colleagues regarding blood transfusions. This will be alongside other transfusion-related duties which support the effective running of the transfusion service with a strong focus on patient safety. Like in other NHS departments, it is essential that we make best use of the resources available to us. As donated blood is a precious resource, ensuring its safe and appropriate use is also a central part of the team’s focus.
This is a permanent part time position for up to 22.5 hours per week and offers weekday only working with no anticipated out of hours work. It could be especially suited to someone wanting to split their working week between a frontline, patient safety or education-based role.

Responsibilities
* Deliver training and education to clinical colleagues regarding blood transfusions
* Carry out transfusion-related duties to support the effective running of the transfusion service with a strong focus on patient safety
* Promote safe and appropriate use of donated blood
* Contribute to audit and project work to improve practice and support trust-wide initiatives
* Engage in collaborative networking across disciplines and specialties as part of a specialist team
Qualifications and experience
* Registered nurse with experience of blood transfusions from an acute clinical background
* Experience of teaching and supporting colleagues with learning (desirable)
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team
