HR Business Partn er, Workington or Carlisle base & Hybrid working, Circa £45k generous benefits package The Opportunity A leading values led organisation in Cumbria is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join their operational HR team. This is a pivotal, permanent role supporting a large in-house HR function of around 10 colleagues, delivering essential services across multiple sites. You’ll work closely with operational leaders, shaping people strategy and driving positive change at a time of ambitious growth. This role would suit someone with strong ER experience from a fast-paced industry such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment. Key Responsibilities Act as a trusted advisor to operational leadership, aligning people strategy with business objectives Lead workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, and organisational development Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and learning & development for operational teams Provide expert HR guidance on complex employee relations matters (grievance, disciplinary, capability) Drive employee engagement and cultural initiatives, ensuring high performance and best practice Analyse HR data and workforce trends, providing insight and recommendations to senior management Support change management, restructures, and transformation projects Line manage and develop an HR Advisor Ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies About You Significant experience in HR business partnering or senior HR advisory roles Proven track record supporting operational or trades-based teams (construction, engineering, manufacturing, or similar sectors highly desirable) Strategic mindset with hands-on operational credibility Confident building relationships and influencing at all levels Strong experience in workforce planning, organisational development, and employee relations CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience required (qualification not essential) Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites What’s on Offer Up to £46,000 salary Full time hours 36.5 hours per week Generous benefits package including: contribution pension of up to 8% employer contribution 25 days holiday (rising to 30 with service) plus bank holidays Life assurance Hybrid working practices and flexitime Employee Assistance Programme, health cashback scheme, and more!
