The Head of Compliance is responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all applicable Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations, including those governing second charge mortgage broking and appointed representative (AR) activities in bridging finance.
Working closely with the Group Compliance Director, this role will coordinate any interactions with the FCA and ensure that the business operates within regulatory expectations while supporting commercial objectives. The Head of Compliance will also oversee the arrangements for the firm’s Appointed Representative, ensuring appropriate supervision and risk management.
The Head of Compliance will work closely alongside the Group Legal, Risk and Compliance function and will be reporting into the CEO of Fluent Money.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and develop the firm’s compliance framework in line with FCA requirements, including MCOB, SYSC, PRIN, and Consumer Duty.
* Oversee ongoing compliance with Consumer Duty, delivering good outcomes for retail customers.
* Assist in develop and executing a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme covering all activities conducted by the firm.
* Provide strategic compliance advice to senior management and in conjunction with the Group Compliance Director, to the Board, report compliance findings and MI, including breaches and remediation actions.
* Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies and procedures.
* Provide guidance to the business on regulatory requirements and best practice.
* Oversee the operation of the Training & Competence scheme, ensuring all advisers and staff are competent, appropriately trained, and meet CPD requirements.
About You
* Strong knowledge of MCOB, Consumer Duty, and AR regime requirements.
* Proven experience working in a senior compliance role.
* Strong understanding of UK regulatory landscape.
* Experience overseeing Appointed Representatives.
* Proven experience in implementing and maintaining compliance frameworks.
* Strong understanding of bridging finance regulation and market practices.
* Experience in both mortgage and short-term/bridging finance sectors.
