Job Summary
We are seeking an Automation Maintenance Engineer at our Tyneside Mail Centre, Earlsway, Gateshead (NE11 0YY) to ensure the smooth running of cutting‑edge automation systems.
Shift Pattern
* Pre‑shift period: Day shifts from 07:00 – 15:00, Monday – Friday for up to four weeks.
* Typical shift pattern:
1. Night shift 18:00 – 06:00, Monday – Thursday.
2. Day shift 06:00 – 18:00, Monday – Wednesday.
3. Night shift 18:00 – 06:00, Friday – Sunday.
4. Day shift 06:00 – 18:00, Thursday – Sunday.
Responsibilities
* Keep automation assets performing at best through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
* Drive continuous improvement projects from concept to implementation.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and team leaders, completing reports and logging faults.
* Diagnose and resolve automation breakdowns quickly to keep operations flowing.
* Monitor performance and work with stakeholders to boost output.
Qualifications
* Experienced multi‑skilled engineer qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Willingness to pursue City & Guilds 2391 & 2392 testing and inspection certification.
* Experience maintaining automation equipment, ideally with PLC knowledge.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
* Proactive team player capable of independent work.
* Full UK manual driving licence (for occasional travel to other sites).
Benefits
* £53,195 per annum salary, with night shift allowance.
* Week‑end supplement: £53.14 per Saturday attendance and £106.28 per Sunday attendance.
* 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays.
