Job description:
Tarmaccers – Tiverton
Our clients are looking for Tarmaccers to join their team in the Tiverton area. This will be a practical, hands-on role that includes a range of tasks such as reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and responding to emergency callouts
As a Tarmaccer, you will be responsible for:-
1. Spreading hot bitumen, tar, or asphalt
2. Compacting the surface using a roller
3. Spreading aggregate over road surfaces using a shovel
4. Remove damaged paving slabs and kerb stones
5. Laying bedding of sand, concrete, or mortar on a prepared foundation
6. Laying new slabs or stones
7. Filling joints with mortar
8. Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and safety procedures
9. Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance tasks such as pothole repairs, patching, and minor civils
10. Undertaking emergency and out-of-hours call-out work on a rota basis
11. Maintaining good communication with supervisors, team members, and members of the public
Requirements:
12. CSCS Card
13. Driving Licence (preferred)
14. PPE
15. Previous experience in highway maintenance or civil engineering works
16. Flexible and willing to participate in a standby rota for emergency and winter maintenance
17. Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practices
18. Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Rate of pay:
£14-£ per hour, depending upon experience
Hours of work:
40 hours per week with time and a half after 40 hours, and Saturdays and double time on a Sunday.
