Job Overview

I am a wheelchair user and require support for all physical aspects of my daily life. Your job will be to provide the right assistance, as and when required, to enable independent living. I am a cis woman requiring personal care support, so I usually hire female personal assistants; however I will consider persons of any gender as long as I feel safe and comfortable.


Essential Responsibilities

* Personal care: toileting, changing, showering, advanced hoisting and other mobility support.
* Household tasks: preparing food, cleaning, doing laundry and maintaining household safety.
* Emergency and physiotherapy support: passive movements, TENS machine, Therabite, assisted coughing, and other interventions as needed.
* Mobility and safety support: booking taxis, supporting my head, adjusting headrest on wheelchair, and assisting when I am outside and at home.


Additional Job Information

3 roles available:

* Role 1: 30 hours average per week with flexible morning/evening shifts, weekends and one overnight per week.
* Role 2: 25 hours average per week with two overnights per week and two daytime or evening shifts, including weekends.
* Role 3: 25 hours average per week with two overnights per week and two daytime or evening shifts, including weekends.

Location: Glasgow. Occasional travel beyond Glasgow may be required; employer will pay travel/accommodation costs.

Contract: 18‑month cycle contract, extendable up to 3 years by mutual agreement.

* Self‑disciplined attendance, reliability and punctuality.
* Excellent communication, including non‑verbal cues.
* Working with consent in all aspects of the role.
* Co‑ordination and learning through muscle memory.
* Emotional intelligence, staying calm in emergencies and following protocol.
* Time management and ability to work quickly and efficiently.
* Basic cooking and household safety skills (e.g., working with a gas hob).
* Professional, precise and efficient following instructions.
* Initiative to carry out routine tasks independently.
* Excellent personal hygiene; face masks no longer a daily requirement unless required by environment.
* Confidentiality, privacy and boundary respect.


Relevant Experience

* Physiotherapy.
* Yoga.
* Outdoor activities demonstrating life skills (e.g., camping).
* Exercise, sports, embodiment practices, dance, martial arts.
* Any other relevant life experience – please mention in CV/cover letter.


Job‑Specific Skills

* Advanced hoisting and handling, preventing positional asphyxiation, assisted coughing, and other skills to be taught during training.
* Driving is an asset; applicants who do not drive may still apply.


Additional Info

* Open to UK residents with work permits, including student and post‑graduate visas.
* Must be a non‑smoker and remain a non‑smoker due to lung health requirements.
* Role requires flexibility and investment during the 18‑month cycle; suitable for graduates or individuals seeking career development.
