Hastings Manor is currently accepting applications for a Full-Time Dietitian Food Services Manager. The primary function of this position is to be responsible for the resident nutritional care program in accordance with Ministry standards including all administration functions of the Dietary Department.
Leadership and Oversight
 * Actively select candidates, conduct interviews, and provide recommendations for hiring team members. Conduct or participate in team member evaluations, investigations, and coaching/discipline.
 * Understand and work within the guidelines of the collective agreement(s). Liaise with the collective bargaining unit(s) to promote mutually beneficial resolutions.
 * Ensure that in‑service programs are provided and encourage the continuing professional development of the department team members to improve skill levels.
 * Supervise in accordance with and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and County policies.
 * Utilize supportive interpersonal skills to effectively empower team members’ approach to improve quality care, both at a departmental and multidisciplinary level.
 * Participate in assigned committees and facilitate department meetings.
 * Maintain partnerships with all leaders of the home to ensure a holistic and person‑centered approach to care and programs.
 * Promote positive team member and resident relations.
 * Collaborate with community partners and resources.
 * Oversee and supervise meal preparation, delivery of meals and feeding of residents.
Program Delivery (Dietitian)
 * Provide nutrition counseling and education to residents, families, and team members.
 * Provision of individual nutrition and hydration assessment, nutrition risk identification, care planning, evaluation, and reassessment for all residents.
 * Complete admission nutrition assessments and ongoing reassessments as required and identify interventions.
 * Monitor and evaluate nutrition/hydration status of residents.
 * Evaluate and modify as needed therapeutic diets, supplemental nourishments, and enteral feedings.
 * Maintain appropriate documentation and records. Ensure systems are in place for accurate monitoring and documentation in order to evaluate nutrition and hydration status.
 * Review and approve all menus seasonally and review standardized recipes and production sheet to ensure meals, snacks, and beverages support residents optimal nutrition status; and to manage nutrition and hydration issues include disease progress, health weights, bowel management, skin integrity, according to assessed needs.
 * Ensure that legislated requirements are being met for dietitian hours in both homes, with other home dietitian.
Program Planning, Development and Delivery (Dietary)
 * Develop, update, and maintain policies and procedures for the dietary department in accordance with best practice guidelines and applicable legislation.
 * Plan and manage the department’s annual operating budget.
 * Creation of contingency plans and ensure minimum stock is available.
 * Effectively use and complete Ministry of Long-Term Care Inspection protocols, complete annual program evaluations, risk assessments, Quality improvement plans, and participate in Accreditation related activities.
 * Respond to complaints; investigate concerns, consult with leadership team, and rectify concerns.
 * Collaborate with scheduling clerks to ensure appropriate coverage and develop working short routines.
 * Adherence to confidentiality and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
Health and Safety
 * Ensure that employee incidents are documented, investigated, and submitted to the Administrative Associate.
 * Immediately report and document all incidents of alleged, suspected, or witnessed abuse or neglect of a resident in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Home Act, 2021 and home policies and procedures.
 * Ensure a zero‑tolerance approach is taken in all instances of alleged bullying or harassment in accordance with the County of Hastings policy and procedures.
 * Be aware of and follow emergency response procedures including all practice drills.
 * Be accountable for the delivery of high‑quality, safe, and reliable care along with a safe working environment to ensure and protect the health and safety of those who use and deliver the programs and services provided by Hastings Manor.
 * Works in a safe manner in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, associated regulations, other applicable legislation, County policies and procedures, and guidelines.
 * Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
 * Four‑year Bachelor of Science Degree or related field of study.
 * Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing.
 * Internship/Masters.
 * Minimum two years of experience in a Long‑Term Care setting or similar Dietary Department.
 * Two years of experience in a supervisory role.
 * Superior planning and management skills.
 * Demonstrated leadership ability.
 * Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate sound decision making, time management and administrative skills.
 * Strong written and oral communication skills.
 * Ability to promote strong community linkages for sharing resources.
Hours of Work: Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours/week). Occasional overtime may be required for project completion.
Wage Range: $91,749 – $107,334 per annum
