Technical Manager – Engineering & Manufacturing Sector
Location: On-site | Rotherham
Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with an evolving and innovative engineering company that is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its Design and Development team. This is a pivotal role with clear potential to progress into a Senior Leadership position.
In this role, you will oversee the delivery of technical projects from concept through to manufacture, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule targets are consistently achieved.
About the Role
As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the management and development of a multi-skilled design team. You’ll work closely with departments across the business – including Production, Manufacturing, Sales, and Operations – to ensure technical excellence and seamless project delivery.
? Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor the Technical Team, supporting skill development and project delivery
* Manage project timelines and budgets across all technical workstreams
* Collaborate with Manufacturing and Production for smooth handovers and installations
* Provide technical support to the Sales team, leveraging product and process knowledge
* Align team objectives with company strategy through close collaboration with Operations
* Ensure design compliance and uphold quality standards across all projects
* Develop and maintain document and drawing control processes, ensuring full compliance
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across design and technical processes
* Drive innovation in both new and existing product development
Knowledge & Experience Required
Technical Skills:
* Strong background in mechanical design and development
* Good awareness of electrical and pneumatic systems as part of design integration
* Expertise in document, drawing, and process control
* Proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD packages
Leadership & Experience:
* Experience managing, mentoring, or supporting junior team members
* Proven track record of delivering concept-to-build design projects
* Understanding of relevant compliance and industry standards
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
